"Squares" Acrylic. 3" x 3"

Tried to use painters tape to mark out successive squares. The paper tore so I tried this smaller one without tape. Must figure out what artists use to block out areas without harming the surface. Paraffin wax, wax paper and something called a liquid frisket can be used according to a quick Google investigation. Hmm...

3M makes about 47 different grades of masking tape. The adherence qualities are rated on time, temperature, and surface material. Maybe another variety of tape would work?
